Prepping Ohio

Приєднався 30 чер 2009
Hey folks. I'm Aaron and I've lived in Ohio, my entire life. I grew up in the woods, and had a large creek to play in. Hunting and fishing, was how I entertained myself, back when life was simple, and how it is suppose to be. Everyone just got in a hurry, chasing after that dollar. Its like they cant see the beauty in the simple things anymore. Enjoy life!
Four wheeler battery maintainer
I finally got around to installing a battery maintainer lead, on our four wheeler. Its been a project that's taken a few years to complete. I know its been a while since I've uploaded on this channel. I needed to do some self care things. Life is way too short to waist time dealing with toxic things, situations, and "family." Live your life and smile every day. Keep your powder dry!

Digital radio in the woods
Переглядів 3402 роки тому
Hey folks. It's been a while since I uploaded, so I thought Id play a little digital radio and show you that it's possible to use a WIFI Hotspot. You can use the hotspot on your phone, as well. It's pretty simple, but not everyone knows that this works. Link for radio - www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y2697RX/?tag=preppingohio-20
Tent Camping In A Blizzard
Переглядів 12 тис.2 роки тому
During the first blizzard of 2022, I was lucky enough to get to spend it in a tent. I use a cot tent, with a heavy pad and sleeping bag. The temperature wasn't super cold, only around 25f. I cooked some chicken, on a biotite stove, to go with some mashed potatoes. I called on the ham radio, but didn't have any luck with replies. The Biolite stove I used..... amzn.to/3qGXfat The cook set I used....
Winter Tent Camping

The snow storm that blew in, turned out to be pretty bad. It, in fact, made me postpone this cold weather camp. However, I was able to make it happen, the following day. Things got cold, but I was very comfortable. I cooked a beef roast, in a dutch oven, over the fire. Well, it wasn't an actual dutch oven. I guess it's called a "deep skillet", or something like that. Regardless, Ill be heading ...

This little stove is pretty cool. It burns clean and, for the most part, is easy to use. At around $10, you can hardly afford to not have one. Get yours here..... amzn.to/2YtbfsP

I was wondering if the heater is still currently working? I wanna put one in my cabin but I’d like to see how long they are lasting. Thanks for your time.
As of this spring it was working fine. You can get them on eBay much cheaper now. You can find them for around 85$
Never saw the video of this in use
It's 16 ft 6 inches, each "leg" is 8 ft 3 in.
You'll want the 91% isopropyl alcohol from the health care/pharmacy department, or the automotive gas line antifreeze/water remover commonly known as Heet (yellow bottle) to run your stove. Don't use the red bottle as it has fuel injector cleaner that you won't want around your food or in your lungs. I've made my alcohol stoves from aluminum cat food cans by simply using a single hole punch and punching a ring of holes near the lip of the can. The cans I used are small, and the stainless cup I used will sit right on top without a support. I can make coffee, tea or cup-a-soup, but much more. Your cooking pot must sit on top of the can, not above it, and the flame jets through the ring of holes around the side and onto the bottom of the cooking pot. I have not tried it, but a larger can should produce more fire and support a larger pot. There is some danger using these. If you knock it over and spill the alcohol the flame will spread.
Consider using earphones. Your batteries will last much longer and you can listen and not disturb others...
Did you end up having enough sun for your solar panel?
Yes, it worked well. In the winter, however, I had to remove snow a few times and did have a low voltage warning.
a cell phone will do the same thing
Ive used canned heat to cook on before . I was actually going through homelessness at the time. It burns at a real low flame. It is slow burning and takes a while but it works. I found that using aluminum disposable pans covered with foil that I got from the dollar tree worked best. My favorite thing to cook was chicken and corn chowder with cream of chicken soup. The thickness of the pan makes a big difference.
Hello! Do you have copies of the firmware and loader? Site is down… 73!! Thank you
New sub. from the 641... Always thumbs up!!! KW 2-8! From what I have gathered, if your in a average sized van a 2kw is best as they are saying any diesel runs longer life, if running full steam ahead, as a posed to having a 8kw and only running it 3kw. Due to more efficient burning. For my cabin I'm all in on a 8kw. I'm planning a van build out 20' and using a 2KW for full power longevity. I hope!!!
Someone probably pointed this out but to help, that muffler has a whole on one side, which should be at bottom to allow moisture out to make the muffler last and so water cannot back up to potentially plug up? Thumbs up!!!
What part of Ohio? I'm eastern and just received my gmrs license
Congrads on your GMRS! I currently reside in Guernsey county
@@PreppingOhio thanks.. that's about 90 miles from me.. too far lol
I wish I was a good ol boy with a handgun and a homemade repeater in the woods…. NY getting me down
Danke für das tolle Video.73,von Jozef,Wien.Österreich .😊😊😊
You do a nice job and your honesty makes all your videos comfortable to watch. Ham radio is a great companion in all outdoor situations! Where about in Ohio is the camp site?
Stupid video
well done vid. TY.
have you tried a home made yagi ?
I want to use the Fire Stick 5/8 as a mobile antenna. I'm building a PVC mast for it. I see that you are a General now. Have you put an antenna analyzer on this antenna? Most of the design information I find for 5/8 wave antennas say that a matching coil is required. Your installation doesn't seem to include a coil, so I'm wondering how good the SWR and match to 50ohms is. Thanks.
Are you planning on doing more prepping videos? More HAM ,GMRS radio prepping vids?
Wow that is a nice setup. Can you please post the Itens you used to make this fantastic box. Thank you very much
No sound?
You still have the Columbia?? Haven’t seen any more videos??
I’m going to be making one of these soon i did a search and your video popped up first. I must say that as a ham living in a subdivision with an HOA in Orlando I’m super jealous of your homestead and not having a neighbor 14 feet away. Thanks for the video I’ll go check out your other uploads.
Cubic told me elbows in the flue are a no go. Thoughts?
Few questions. What is the part/bracket that the two ham sticks connect to???
Nvr mind, I found it. If anyone is looking for this, its the MFJ-347 HF Stick Miniature Dipole Mount,$34.94 @ DX Eng... The Ham Sticks are about 30.00 Each as well and normally in stock. Mine should be here Friday. Now to find a decent non conductive pole or condit strong enough to hold it and two HamSticks up there at 15-25' and not be too flexible.
@@invisalinkmissouri1360 You want it to be 16.5 ft high.
If you're in the middle of nowhere you shouldn't have that much junk coming in... I wonder if it's your charge controller? It might be that you're getting out but can't hear any responses! 73, Matt M0PTO
You're right. It's either a charge controller or power inverter. I've dealt with the same noise from a power inverter. There shouldn't be any QRM that far out. I have a lot of power line noise near my house, but if I just go a mile or two away from civilization, my receive is so quiet you don't here static anymore just a layer of really small voices too faint to recognize.
Love your channel! Just found it!
You stove is outside you will not get as good of a draft as you would inside also when you get a bed of coals will help with draft!! Tip open door slowly 🙂
just found your channel too. How have you been on here 10 years and im just now finding your channel? lol. I subscribe to all sorts of prepper and ham radio and out door stuff. Well just subscribed because of ham stuff. Thanks so much.
These are my favorite trucks
Too bad you don't have the music turned down lower, I couldn't hear your 1st half comments very well. Your setup is done well. 73 n8vo
